It is easier to project our fears and insecurites on others rather then look in the mirror and confront them head on. We blame everyone else for our problems, fears, anxieties, insecurities, lack of motivation, obesity, poverty, sadness and so on. We like to deflect our weakness on other people to make ourselves seem stronger when really we are weak and out of control.
Doing this only keeps us in bondage and under the heaviness of our burdens. We stay wounded and continue to hide behind a mask. We live in the illusion that if we don't see the problems....if we sweep them under the rug they will eventually go away.
We try to cover up our pain and fears under layers of false identities. We try to be strong, funny, sophisticated, dedicated, educated or some other illusion just to avoid showing our true state. We don't want anyone to know what we are struggling with because we don't want to be vulernable. We are afraid that if we are transparent then someone will hurt us or take advantage of us.
In order to avoid dealing with ourselves we project our fears and insecurities on others. We get angry at them and blame them for our unhappiness. Our relationships become conditional. We only seek to be validated, satisfied or completed by others and if they do not fulfill that desire we leave them.
We lose friendships, significant others, business partners or family members because we no longer feel fulfilled in the relationship. It becomes easier to let them go then deal with our own issues and emotions.
Many times God removes these blinders in our lives so that we can see ourselves clearly. He removes jobs, relationships or other masks so that we can be honest with ourselves and begin to heal. When we become honest and stop blaming others for our state of being then we can truly begin to live authentic.
We will stop hiding behind the illusions, the pains, the fears and insecurities and we will begin to see ourselves as the wonderful and powerful vessels God designed us to be.
